SHAH ALAM, 10 August 2026 – The 2026 National Biosafety Institutional Committee (IBC) Seminar was held on 10 August 2026 (Monday) at Ballroom A, DoubleTree by Hilton Shah Alam i-City, themed “Biosafety 360°: Decoding Regulations, Empowering Operations.” The seminar brought together biosafety practitioners and stakeholders to share knowledge, experiences, and the latest developments in biosafety governance, regulations, and practices in Malaysia.
Representing Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), two UPM Biosafety Officers, Mr. Mohd Azman Ahmad and Mr. Ahmad Afiq Ahmad Johari, participated in the seminar as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to strengthen professional networks and enhance knowledge and competency in institutional biosafety management.
Adding further distinction to UPM’s participation, Mr. Mohd Azman Ahmad was invited as one of the panelists for the forum session, “IBC Talks: What Works, What Challenges, What’s Next?” The session provided a platform for sharing insights and experiences on the effectiveness of Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) implementation, challenges encountered, and the future direction of biosafety.
Their participation reflects UPM’s commitment to strengthening a culture of biosafety and biosecurity, while fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing with the national biosafety community.
